I have an aging PC running Windows. The AMD CPU was first launched in 2012 (4-core A10-5800K, 100W max draw). The most recent BIOS update for the ASUS motherboard (FM2 socket, two generations behind the current AMD FM4 socket, with the FM5 socket release coming within a year) was in 2016. The price drop for graphics cards thanks to the crypto collapse made a current low-power Nvidia GTX 1650 (now with DDR6 instead of DDR5 memory at initial launch, max 75W draw) affordable for the first time in years (i.e., not much above MSRP), so I jumped on it, as graphics cards that can be installed (and reasonably expected to work) in my aging motherboard are not likely to be around longer.

The other reason I went for what amounts to a final upgrade of said PC was a somewhat impulsive purchase of Cyberpunk 2077 on sale because the game developer was making a donation to Ukraine. Sure the game launch was botched, but a patch earlier this year apparently made things reasonable. With much of the graphical options cranked down, I was able to run the game at 1920x1080 with FPS in the 20s, which is playable. My PC is far from a high performance system, but at least it's not a power hog.
