The surreal city

I've been working from home for the most part since the order went out, but today I went to the downtown office on what turned out to be a failed errand. I left home around 5:30pm, figuring that if I had to go in, going against the normal flow would minimize the number of people I would run across. Subway was mostly empty. The larger convenience store inside Yonge-Bloor station was still open. The Eaton Centre was closed, with concrete barriers in front of some doors, and some areas boarded up even. It was a strange, surreal experience. Obviously I couldn't take my usual PATH way from the subway into work, so I had to go topside. It wouldn't be Toronto without someone passing by on a bicycle screaming something at someone persistently. There was life, but a lot less of it. Most people were good about physical distancing. Mostly.
